I think Foster would win this, but it wouldn't be a wipeout. He's not just wading nonchalantly into range and bombing Leonard out of there like he did Tommy Hicks et al. I think we'd see a competitive fight for about 6 or 7 rounds with both guys picking up points here and there and both probably having the odd shaky moment. The excess bulk on Leonard would eventually start to play with his legs and reflexes until he's forced to open up and then the power would probably just become too much. Leonard would be one of the toughest opponents on Foster's LHW record though.

Leonard should come in at 147 lbs and repeat the Ray Anderson marathon run.

 

How would you see the SRL of the Lalonde fight going against all Bob's 175 opposition?

 

No overstuffed welterweight..even Ray Leonard would have beaten Bob Foster. This would be all about Foster malevolently stalking a doomed Leonard until he executes him, ala Vincente Rondon...it would be like a hoRror flick for fans of SRL.

Good question. The only one I can see him losing clearly to would be Tiger. Finnegan would be a tough night out with Leonard probably dropping a tight decision over 15 but doing better over shorter distances and having a cxhance of getting the stoppage.

 

What if Leonard forces a catchweight like at say 170 lbs

 

No problem. Bob struggled to gain weight, not to lose it. His true weight for Ray Anderson was under 170 in all likelihood. Don't forget that he was nudging 33 by then, having long since reached full physical maturity. Forcing a catch weight of 170 would be a bad idea when dealing with either Bob or Michael Spinks. If there had been a SMW classification during Foster's career, and he wanted to hold a title there, I'm satisfied he could have done it without unduly draining himself.

 

I agree........ SRL is fast as lightning, but Foster is too big and powerful at a lean 175 pounds........... SRL gets clocked and parked by Foster in the 4th stanza.....
