Shruggled with Hearns and Hagler though, his fight in Montreal was a cracker.

Agree with your whole post DP. When i rewatched it a year or two ago i was shocked by how comfortably Ray was winning this. He buzzed Benitez multiple times too. He was clearly the superior fighter.

Rewatched Leonard-Benitez. Ray controlled the action and had Wilfred in trouble on multiple occasions.

Harsh, I thought it was a cagey fight until the first knockdown and cut.

Again, I think Benitez’s most notable achievement was making Ray miss somewhat more than he had in previous fights - but that alone didn’t constitute it as being a close fight.

Absolutely. Duran had no chance against Leonard in Montreal. Reach is everything.

    Oh hang on!!!!!!

Ray might actually stop him. Speed kills, and Palomino was there to be hit. The only real big banger he faced was Duran, and Roberto did drop him. Hell, Muniz dropped him. Palomino is not made of stone.

    Leonard, in 8-10 rounds.

Kind of odd to discount a great win because a boxer had longer arms.

They fought on the inside, in the rematch Leonard never let him close and just out-jabbed him etc.

A welter getting past Hearns 78 inch reach and jab was really difficult.
