Yeah Mark that "sparring partner" was none other than my buddy from Dallas TX Quincy Taylor the future WBC world middleweight champ. Quincy sure could bang

I'll have to check him out on film

It's like I said though, Leonard never could have competed with a prime Hagler. If his sparring partners are knocking him out...

Ray could have beaten anyone.. The thing about Ray was that he liked to go for knockouts, so he would get hit in the process. I think Donald would give him trouble with his speed and skill and counterpunching, but Ray's determination would get to Curry and he would stop Curry in 9 or 10 rounds

I don't know much about Curry. Really I have not seen a lot of him but he was good enough to make me rethink Benitez.

Curry not in the same 'stratosphere' as Leonard? Most hyperbolic comment I've seen in a while.

    Not remotely a mistmatch.

Fighters as divisive as Leonard tend to draw the hyperbole out a bit.

well at the same time that SRL was not the one who fought Duran and Hearns in 80 and 81... So can Hagler deal with that speed? Probably not.. But there was a reason why Ray didn't fight him in 1982 or 1983. He waited to see some weakness.

Absolutely agree with your take on Don Curry. Nicely and calmly articulated. One of the best posts I've read on DC anywhere.
