Sugar Ray Leonard vs. Floyd Mayweather Jr.

Fact of the matter is, all Floyd does was beat Mosley more comprehensively than Cotto had a few years before. Mosley couldn't pull the trigger, was regularly buzzed, and sounded punch drunk beforehad.

A good win? Definitely. Floyd looked superb. But for the relieved fans who now think this has somehow validated Floyd as some kind of supernatural tour-de-force, that doesn't sit well with me. And do people really think I'm the kind of person who would go on a fighters personality or 24/7???

I'm obsessed with resumes, pugilism through the ages, who were the greatest fighters of all time etc etc

I'm not 'hating'. Floyd is not there yet. He ain't great.

 

The Mosley fight doesn't have any real bearing on my argument/points. Just picked up on it from another post.

Won't argue that Floyd deserves to be recognised as great either. He hasn't proved it/warranted it yet (maybe never will).

 

Sugar Ray. He had the slick skills and smarts but he was also a tough hardworking mother****er.

i feel for floyd because he just makes all his opponents look ordinary so he is never involved in a classic to cement his name as a great. he needs the pac man fight!
for me i give a close decision to leonard.

 

Duran and Hearns would do a similar job to Leonard, in terms of them winning. If Durab had landed the right hand Shane landed in the 2nd round, Floyd would not have made it out IMO. He buzzed Leonard with a left hook in the 2nd round of the first fight and that changed the flow completely.

Hearns Vs Floyd cannot be argued. Without a doubt the worst matchup I can think of for Floyd at Welter, at JMW it's a one round slaughter from The Hitman, though unfair to
discuss Fliyd Vs top-notch 154lbers, the Oscar fight was a big money super fight.
