I don't all I am saying is I don't think there is 50 fighters better than Mayweather in Boxing history.

 

Leonard takes them all.

Could Floyd take a shot from Pipino ? I would favour Floyd over Starling and Curry, but would not be shocked if either of them beat him. But i would make Floyd a favourite.

The until he is beaten argument is flawed , Horace Notice and Terry Marsh retired undefeated .

 

Mis read Rich Ts comment, until Floyd is beaten we don't know the full depth of his character and ability. But that does also mean to an extent he is unproven. Leonard we know all about, he can take a huge shot, he can come back from a beating etc etc

PBF often looks like he's cruising all in 2nd or 3rd gear in alot of his fights. This might be a deception ; Mayweather might be performing to the upper end of his potential. However I thinnk he's got a gear we haven't seen before.

Leonard is the better combination puncher, but Floyd can throw single shots on the fly better imo. I think he has the ability to get off before Leonard and throw off alot of Leonard's good work. Disrupt his flow.

1. 5 weight world champion.

2. Undefeated.

3. Put him in any other era, you would be raving about him.

 

That alone should put him anybodys top 10 nevermind top 50.

 

Put him in the era of Lenoard and Hearns and Duran - and he may struggle to be both 5 weight world champion and almost certainly would not be undefeated.

 

For starters they only use to have 8 weight divisions in the olde days.

So jumping up through the weights was more of a leap.

So do become a 5 weight world champion in the olden days he would have had to win world titles from Featherweight to about Light Heavyweight.

He would have got laid out cold by the likes of Bob Foster going for his 5th weight division world title.

Only looks so impressive today because standards have dropped - things have been dilluted down.

And they also have four major world titles per division now, plus all the super-champs and interim champs, and then the other shitty titles like IBA etc.

 

No way is Floyd Top 10 all-time.

A lot of people wouldn't even put Leonard in their top 10, and he has wins over Benitez, Duran, Hearns and Hagler.

I suppose you could make some kind of case on H-2-H skillset, if you really, really wanted to. But on ring record (or a combination of record and skills) Mayweather doesn't get anywhere near the top 10.
