He didn’t have lots of advantages at all. He didn’t have better counters. A lead right hand? Like he was ever going to land a lead right hand on a guy like Ray. His pot shots were against much slower, less mobile fighters. Lead jab to the body? He couldn’t have thrown that against Ray. Yes, Ray never fought anyone exactly like Floyd, but he fought Benitez and guys who were on the level of Floyd. From Floyd’s perspective, he never saw anyone who even resembled Ray, or nobody of his calibre. Not the specific versions who Floyd fought. Shane and Oscar? How would they be in any way relevant? The second that Ray fought him aggressively, Floyd would have shelled up defensively. And a defensive Floyd couldn’t have won the majority of rounds needed for a victory. Ray would have been a significant favourite. Nobody knowledgeable would have favoured Floyd.
Bookmakers probably made odds for 25+ of Mayweather’s fights. The odds of him winning all is close to zero according to the oddsmakers. I’d expect him to add Leonard to that accomplishment.
Everytime I give you a chance, this is what you do. We’ll leave it there. Just a complete waste of time.
I hold both fighters in very high regard. But I can’t picture Mayweather beating Ray Leonard at his natural best weight where he was prime. To be sure, Floyd Mayweather was an excellent welterweight. But Leonard is superior in that class
Canelo. And Corrales would be an ATG if he beat Floyd instead getting dominated. 36 y/o Pac>”ATG” Benitez
You’re delusional. And even if you were right, what would that say about Canelo?? A prime ATG who couldn’t win a round off of a 36 year old WW? A prime ATG who could barely beat Lara and Trout? A prime ATG who ducked GGG for 18 months, before being awarded a gift draw?? Those are not the actions of a prime ATG. Corrales? Ha! The faded, injured version of Manny who Floyd fought, wasn’t as good as the version of Benitez who Ray fought. This is my last post to you. You tried to convince me that you weren’t a troll last week. That you were legit. Yet that’s obviously not the case. So we’ll leave it there.
If we’re talking about ATGs, Floyd beat the highest ranking one between Leonard and himself, who also happened to be the best available fighter in the sport and a reigning champion. If we’re talking about HOFers, Floyd is again in front.
