Sugar Ray Leonard vs. Mike McCallum

I rewatched the fight the other week and Graham didn't exactly have a hard time sticking and moving against McCallum, I would not be surprised if he had longer arms considering that he was the same size as Mike.

 

I’m tempted to post a Roberto Duran vs Carl Williams fantasy fight pick thread.

 

I'm remembering - Achillesthegreat and ManassaMauler had a more intense rivalry.

I recall Mendoza and McVey going at it.

Red rooster was a secret Leonard fan - he cried when Terry Norris done him terrible.

 

I dont believe you it's clear McCallum's arms were as long as Graham's, McCallum's arms always looked really long.

 

Show to the fans that we have people who think Carl would beat Marciano coexisting with people who think Duran would beat Carl. Duran > Williams > Marciano

 

Stop it. McCallums official reach was 74 1/2". You've always claimed SRL had a 74" reach so you are talking about a 1/2" reach difference with Ray possessing FAR more speed.

Donald Curry had a 72" reach and was outboxing McCallum with speed and skill before he got one punched.

Duran boxed Hagler quite well on the outside and McCallum isn't the fighter Hagler was.

Trying to put so much importance on reach when an ATG is involved is crazy stuff.

 

As savvy as McCallum is, his boxing repertoire would be matched by Leonard’s own skills and speed at the weight. He’s simply at a higher level than the body snatcher
