Sugar Ray Leonard .VS. Pernell Whitaker

How would you see Whitaker going against the version of Lalonde SRL beat?

 

What do you mean "version"? Are we talking PRIME Donny Lalonde? My goodness, please not that!

 

Rooster always has to get his customary sly anti-Leonard dig in somehow. haha.

 

Would be a great fight but Leanord would take it over a UD.

 

Leonard had some trouble for a while against the wily Wilfredo Benitez, but eventually figured him out and won (it was actually quite competitive almost all the way). He would do very well against Pernell Whitaker as well. UD for Ray with lots of interesting action but neither fighter seriously hurt probably.

I think Leonard would have to employ totally different tactics for this one, and he wouldn't look pretty doing it like he did vs. Benitez. He'd come away with a clear win though.

 

awkward fight for Leonard both had great movement fast hands great defensive skills power id give to Leonard, I think Leonard by ud that's my gut feeling good fight

 

Have to go with Leonard on the basis of being the bigger man. But Whitaker certainly had a style that I could see giving Ray problems.

 

Sweet pea could make leonard work hard in this one imo. He certainly has the skills. But leonard a little to much for him here. After a bit of showboating from the both sugar gets a UD

 

Whitaker does better than people are giving him credit for in this fight. It's much more fluid in his movement and punching off said movement than Wilfred was, so I don't like that comparison. I just don't see the fight playing out the same way as the WB and SRL fight did. I'd make SRL the favorite though being that this is his natural weight, and he'd be the bigger fighter. By no means do I think this would be an easy decision win for him

As much as I dislike SRL, he's a head to head monster at WW. SRL by UD.
