The Leonard that fought Hagler vs. the Martinez that fought Dziniruk.

    Who takes it?

i guess Ill be the first to respond.

Personally I think Martinez wins a lopsided decision over Leonard. Even though Leonard's win over Hagler overlaps Martinez's entire career Leonard and Hagler both look way best their best days that night. One was trying not to lose and the other trying not to look bad. Martinez also is more blazing fast at this weight than SRL was. If Martinez falls for Leonard's trap of pushing the fight to him then it would be competitive with a decision win for SM on workrate.

Rewatching the Lalonde fight im 99% sure Martinez TKO's that version of SRL let alone win a one-sided fight.

Martinez by Dec, styles make fights-for example the hagler SLR beat stops martinez in 7- and leonard was past his best

I think both guys hit the the canvas.. Martinez drops Leonard in mid to early rounds and takes a lead... Leonard was the best at pulling off clutch performances when he needed them especially late. ... Leonard rallys late and scores a knockdown and has Martinez on his heels at the bell... Leonard close decision 114-111 or 114-112.

Maybe Martinez beats that version of Leonard:think(or pickem),dont think by Ko though.... I thought Leonard had better legs for Hagler than Lalonde, and seemed to lose a little with each fight after that one.... I also disagree with you about Martinez being faster than SRL,, Martinez is pretty fast but his speed is slightly overrated, pretty fast but.. Even the MW version of Leonard had the edge in speed here.

P4P SRL is faster of course but at middleweight I think its undisputable who the faster fighter is. SRL would perhaps have the edge for flurries but Martinez is not going to stay in the pocket that long for that to happen, he wont be looking to come in and load up like Hagler did.

SRL that fought Lalonde defintely gets TKO'd. Lalonde looks bad like a refined LHW version of Caballero but with a weaker chin and SRL went life and death with him.

Well Lalonde was far from a smooth fighter...And i can see why many would mistankly underrated Lalonde... But he was better than he looked his awkwardness actually worked for him and you cant deny his big right hand,,was also so much bigger than Ray. Caballero better skilled but not on the same planet as far as power(even pfp). I think he was at least as dangerous as Pavlik (considering size difference) not as good but hit harder...I think a good win for Leonard considering he was on the downside, even that version of Leonard probably beats the guys in the super 6 for the exception of Ward, style wise he probably beats Froch, probably lose to Johnson,Beats Abraham. Maybe beats Kessler.

At first I thought Martinez straight away based on being fresher, speed and size. Just rewatched SRL-Hagler though, SRL was actually still pretty damm fast, still much better combinations than SRL, reflexes were still there, height is about the same and he went 15 rounds so I'm sure he would manage the 12.

I'd pick SRL by decision if he turns up as good as he did that night. Fighters at that point in their career can be pretty inconsistent I guess.

    Points or stoppage . . . SRL.

Martinez cannot be more relentless and accurate than Hagler. Martinez lost by MD to P Williams the first time . . . remember?

yeah but that wasnt prime hagler in there he looked slow and sluggish, I think martinez has a good shot at both versions of leonard and hagler that were in that fight.
