    Whoops! An editing mistake.

    He is number 7.

Wins over Welsh, Dundee, Ritchie, Kansas, and Tender as well as complete domination for almost decade not just outboxing but KO'ing everything including the welterweight champion althought he was DQ'ed.

Well, it's not something certain, like I said I've got some fights and fighters I need to watch to have a pertinent opinion. I just get annoyed by the fact that he's the most overrated fighter all-time on this forum. I still think he's a great boxer and probably the best lightweight ever, but if we're being objective, his career and resume moving up from lightweight doesn't say much.

seems a strange view to me, amongst the top 4 (gans leonard duran whitaker) its duran with the weakest lw resume, but he had some wonderfull performances above light weight, moreso than the other 3, i'm not trying to pick an argument, just wondering why you think that? the moore fight can be ignored but vs barkly, hagler and leonard was over LW.

That said duran is a big LW, and would not have fought @lw for long in Leonard or Gan's day

Sugar Ray Leonard was awesome. His multiple retirements kept him from doing more... but he still did a lot.

Benitez, Duran x3, Hearns x2, Hagler... he beat them all and went 5-1-1 (3) vs. these 4 great fighters.

He even knocked out WBC LHW Champ Donnie Lalonde. Leonard was past prime. Lalonde eventually fought for the WBA CW world title vs. Bobby Czyz (L12).

On the way up he easily defeated the likes of Dick Ecklund, Floyd Mayweather, Randy Shields, Armando Muniz KO6, Tony Chiaverini KO4, and Pete Ranzany KO4 among others. He also beat Dave Boy Greene KO4 and Ayub Kalule KO9 among others.

Had he not retired when he did, maybe he would have fought the likes of Marlon Starling, Donald Curry, or Mike McCallum. Would it have really mattered?

There has been so many outstanding fighters, many of which such limited film exists but I will say without a doubt he is one of the very, very best I have ever seen ... pound for pound he's at the top of the top ..
