Of course this accolade may be debated by Ali, SRL, Duran, Pernell, Hearns, Joe Louis, Marciano and Floyd but SRR was truly something else: This content is protected
I don't think there is any doubt, a fighter truly on his own. GREAT, Great and great, as I like to highlight it, there are many, many greats, 1000s over the History of Boxing, likewise many Greats 100s over the History, but very few GREATS, reserved for the truly elite!
Certainly it’s debatable. There’s plenty of doubt, & I reflect that in my own rankings where Armstrong takes the no. 1 spot. Robinson is of course a contender but there are other fighters who should get as much love who simply don’t.
SRR shoe in Top 3. most probably have him 1. Greb giving up 12 pounds and then 8 and beating up Tunney twice is hard to top imo tho
Ray Robinson at his best beat any great at their best between welterweight and middleweight. I don't believe theirs much of an argument about it. Doesn't mean a Ray Leonard, Roberto Duran ( Think about it , if the pressure of Lomatta could give Robinson his 1st Loss, it's easy to imagine what a prime Duran could do.) Hearns, Napoles, Monzon or Hagler couldn't beat Robinson, it means more times than not Robinson would beat them. That in itself gives us the answers to his greatness. Ray Robinson was the G.O.A.T . his record , and experts point of view, including most fighters who saw him said so. Who am I to argue against that?
Harry Greb is the GOAT! He beat most HOFamers and never ducked anyone fighting one handed and blind. He also beat one of the greatest MWs Walker and 3rd greatest LHW Tunney.
