No, The Calzaghe you describe wouldn't be able to beat Anyone let alone some of the guys he has and that includes a 43yr old Pavlik beating Hopkins.

I give him a little more respect than that.

I don't think much of boxing from YOUR perspective.

I don't know how you can dismiss Calzaghe completely in this fight..you've seen Hagler zero times at 168, and you think he could easily take care of Calzaghe?

50/50 fight IMO, Calz definitely has the talent to outpoint Hagler but if Calzaghe gets hurt a prime Hagler would finish him off.

People are getting tarred and feathered just because they disagree with an opinion? Can't we all have opinions without trying to be made to look foolish?

Anyway, I don't see Calzaghe beating Hagler as being so unbelievable. I ain't saying he would beat him but it sure as hell isn't as obvious as some claim.

Durans best weight was 135-147 :patsch Duran would have little chance against him....even haters should realise that.....don't get me wrong he's make it a tough old fight for Calz....but come on, even the great Duran couldn't pull it off

    :huh

what about duran performances at 160/168 impresses you so much ?

is calzaghe really so bad in your opinion

i saw the kirkland laing fight

i saw the duran fight against haglers brother , i forget his name sims or lee i think

    i saw the paz fights

    i saw the barkely fight

    saw the hagler fight.

saw the piece of crap , that was leanord 3

duran fighting way above his weightclass was ok if matched right against the right opponent like slow as treacle barkley, but little vinny paz was able to handle duran fauirly easily because of quicker hands.

what fights is it that you think calzaghe gets ktfo by this version of duran ?

I'm not saying anything of the sort.
But how do you judge a guy who's truley never been tested but the tests he has faced he passed. And lets not forget Hopkins agreeing to 3 million then dropping it for Taylors 6 mil a few years back.

Personally I don't see him as an all time great because Joe he hasn't exactly been surrounded by fighters willing to fight him on his terms. But at the same time to put the guy down after what he's achieved imo is ****ing moronic.

I tell you this much. If Calzaghe was American we wouldn't be having this discussion.

Calzaghe would slap them to death inside five rounds, the crowd at the Cardiff Ice Ring would go bananas.

Kirkland Lang beat a peak Duran over 15 rounds at his peak.
A Benitez coming towards the end of his great years beat Duran over 15 at his peak.
Calzaghe is WAY better than Lang and better tham Benitez at that point in his career.

Duran at his peak beat a peak Ray Leonard.
I don't think Calzaghe could beat a peak Leonard yet Duran did.

Do you see the flaw in your question?
How the hell can we answer when there is always going to be an argument for and against???

This is my thread and I despise the Calzaghe fanboys as much as anyone, but peak Hagler (natural mw) is a different animal from mw Duran (natural lw). I wouldn't completely rule out the mw Duran who fought Hagler and Barkley beating Joe on Roberto's best mw night, but I must say I think it is very very VERY unlikely. Calzaghe's huge advantage in size set against the fact that mw Duran was in his mid-late 30s make this a highly probable win for Joe C. But peak Marvin Hagler was on a different level entirely to Calzaghe.

A peak Hopkins agreed to face Joe IN AMERICA then backed out.
Joe fought a Hopkins that beat a peak Pavlik, you're very dismissive.
