    From Sweet Thunder:

''The young Cassius Clay, turning pro, had made a pitch to Robinson about about becoming his manager. But Robinson thought Clay bewildering and strange''

''On top of it all, Clay kept company with Muslims. When Clay told Robinson that Elijah Muhammad could promise him $700,000 if he converted to Islam, Sugar Ray truly thought that young man insane''

This was some time around 1962, when Robinson was coming towards the end of his career.

Has anyone read/heard anymore about this?

I wonder how it could have changed the young Clay's career...

Would n't have worked out. With Ali,there was only room for one star on the team. That's why Angelo Dundee was them perfect man for Muhammad. Angie was quite content to let Muhammad have his head in most affairs, and knew that all he needed to do was work his corner. They worked brilliantly with each other.

Agreed, I just couldn't see it working out.

Imagine the media exposure if it did work out ....
