Similar only on the surface...... Yes...Floyd beats women, so did Ray, they were young, black and rich. THey both liked to spend lavishly, but as fighters they couldn't be more different.

Ray was super talented with a lot of gifts others during his era just didn't have. But Ray didn't use those tools to out point his opponents. Ray went in there and utilized his talents going at it, toe to toe. And he was that good that he would win dominantly.

Floyd isn't cut from the same cloth as Ray when it comes to their careers or their styles. Floyd is safety first and content on avoiding the trenches and difficult challenges. Ray sought them out.

Serious queqstion Karceno , how long have you been watching boxing, as I would like to ask you a question.

Take Floyd back to the 80's and get him to fight the following four fighters

    1. Don Curry
    2. Marlon Starling
    3. Mark Breland
    4. Lloyd Honeyghan.

All 147 champs , all different styles , but somewhere along they fought each other (give or take).

I can tell you 100% if Floyd fought the above 4 when prime for prime he would not go 4 - 0 , I think he would do well to go 3 - 1.

See this is a different era , where words are louder than actions. Floyd has yet to fight a prime 147 fighter and you are comparing him to Robinson.

In addition to everyone else that destroyed your thread, heres another point.
Mayweather routinely says hes the greatest of all time and better than Robinson so hes going to be judged harshly. If hes the GOAT then it shouldn't be a problem. Robinson didn't say things like that and his resume is astounding on top of that. Robinson>>>>>>>>Mayweather.

Edit: And Robinson hitting his wife was a sign of the times, and while it was wrong, it was more forgivable than it is now. Its 2011, you can't compare them.

    2. Marlon Starling is my 5 favorite fighter of all time. ive been watching boxing for 30yrs. i would rank floyd chances high because of his style against all of those guys. but its a different era

Come on man be honest , Im 36 and similar to you have been watching for about 30 years and in that time I have seen some great fighters . The four I mentioned were all bigger , stronger and hit way way harder. Floyds biggest assets speed, intelligence and stamina would at least be matched by Starling , Curry was 5 10 and that left hook would be lethal and would run Floyd out of the ring. Breland 6 2 is a nightmare for anyone and Honeyghan was just so unpredictable.

Floyd simply would not move up to 147, these guys would not lose to a superfeather.

    And we both know it.

"Then he came straight by me, and I went to shake his hand, and he looked at me like I was nothing. He walked on by. I said 'Ok, fine.' It killed me right there. I lost my respect for him after that, because I would never snob another fighter. I would never act like I'm much better than another fighter." - Larry Holmes talking about why he doesn't like Floyd Jr

Damn, Floyd did Larry like Sugar did Basilio!
