I saw the true "greatest" before he turned pro and after he retired. and to see him at the end of the film pudgy and with dementia is so sad for me...What nature gives it destroys. For me as a boy to see Robinson ringside in his welterweight prime, and recalling those fights still give me goosebumps...
what i'd pay for your memories burt. think i asked this before.....were you at the tommy bell fight ? btw....happy christmas old friend (how are things with you since the storm ? )
yup...what a memory to have happy xmas to you too brother, and thanks for sharing all your memories all year...loved hearing every one.
No Dougie, I was not at the Tommy Bell bout, but was well aware of it ... Since Hurricane Sandy I'm still displaced until my Insurance company hopefully takes care of the problem and i can rebuild what nature destroyed...As long as I'm dry...A Merry Christmas to you and yours Doug...
i want to say it was his second victory over olson when he regained the middleweight title after his retirement. i think i saw that on a documentary at some point.
