This is kinda dumb. JC's prime was at 168 and SRR's was at 147 and lower. Even if you don't have same day weigh ins (which they did in SRR's day) there's no way prime JC makes 160. If they fought at 168 it would depend. JC is so much bigger and is a strange, awkward fighter with really good handspeed. It's not as if SRR never lost a fight, particularly when he was fighting bigger guys. While SRR is clearly the better P4P fighter, in a head to head JC has a fair chance.

Robinson rolls out of his casket and schools the Welsh fraud, who backed out of the fight 6 times already and had to be begged to fight.

Calzaghe would lose to Robinson. He'd also lose to Jake LaMotta, Tony Zale and Marcel Cerdan.

    Yup.

Calzaghe takes this I think, simply because he might just be too big for SRR, as amazing as he was.

Calzaghe fit into light heavyweight very comfortably and was a big 168 pounder. While Robinson, already a small middleweight, lost his only fight moving up to light heavy (abeit past prime)

You know... I bet Joe Calzaghe HIMSELF would tell you that he would be no match for Sugar Ray Robinson.

    SRR was way too small.

What is with all the Calzaghe hate? Does it **** you off that a past prime Euro came over to the US and beat two past prime elite US fighters?

From his early 30s on, Calzaghe had fragile hands which resulted in him getting labeled CalSlappy, A 25 year old version of Calzaghe had the speed, chin, skills and power to KO anybody near his weight.

SRR went up in weight and lost. He was a great fighter but he isn't superman.

Give up the hate. You guys have to find something better to do than slam elite fighters via your keyboard.

There is clearly a deep seated insecurity with a lot of the US posters. A successful European fighter comes along and beats their guys and straight away they reach for their hand guns. :verysad
