that's an assumption on your part and for that to be true, you have to first assume hagler was an average fighter

Now let's look at the crop of middleweights of Robinson's era, I dont really see anyone of note. Fullmer? He's someone who was built up as some big strong ferocious middleweight but in reality, you never see his name come up when great middleweights are discussed. I think the reason for this is becuz he didnt really make an impression

Ralph Tiger Jones. I dont know if you've seen his record but it was awful

Basilio was a tough welterweight but not much of a middleweight

    so far, nothing

then there was Olson who I thought was good competitor but a little too stiff and easy to hit with combinations

So who exactly was the big competition faced by Robinson? Turpin? He looked not much above average to me

i'm sorry but I dont see much there in Robinson's era

to say that Robinson had the style to drive Hagler nuts, that's an assumption too. as I said before, Hagler fight as a lefty, moves as a lefty would while Hagler has faced many right handers. so it is not good enough just to say "Robinson had the style to beat Hagler"

as I recall, Robinson lost a few at this weight so is it not more logical to think that Hagler's chances are very good at winning?

i'm not selling Robbie short. we all know he's great but I think he's up against someone who's simply a better fighter at this weight
