its quite the credit to jake that while watching robinson in action i am almost more impressed with his durability
Sheridan was clearly ahead of his time as a commentator. It brings the fight alive. The slow-drawn out commentators just don't cut the mold. If Sheridan is overwhelming, then guys like Ross Hodges and Don Dunphy do one heck of a job. I didn't think he got big till the early 70s. Thanks GreatA.
Sheridan isn't quite that old. :good It's just Sheridan commentating over a classic fight for ESPN. I think his first major commentating jobs in boxing were Foreman-Norton and Foreman-Ali. However I think I like the original broadcast better: [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GNcO4xXKRGQ[/ame] "No man could endure this pummeling!"
You've got to admire Sheridan's enthusiasm though. Makes it sound as if he's there watching the fight as it's happening.
Foreman-Norton was the first that sprang to mind as his upcoming. The original broadcasting is great and has that nostalgic precense. It's a matter of preference. Certainly Sheridan animates and brings excitement through his call. Argument could stem from a quality vs quantity.
:good 100%. Guy's just the most exciting and convincing commentator I've heard, hands down. Might prefer other fighters for analysis, but the enthusiasm he conjures is just unparalleled, even by the likes of Lampley.
