Sitting here watching Robinson vs Lamotta 1951 and im on round 13.

It got me to thinking, what happens if you replace Lamotta with Marvelous Marvin and his southpaw, switch hitting style?

Would Hagler leave the arena as the still middleweight champion or as the ex champion?

It`s a tough matchup. I think Ray would win a decision. Different style than LaMotta. Hagler was more of a boxer. This was still a prime or close to prime Ray Robinson. Both at their absolute best I would go with Robinson. In a series of fights I'm sure Hagler take at least one.

Hagler was more of a boxer and always in the best shape than anyone out there.. But I don't see him winning this one.. SRR breaks his will... Hagler is a great but not a SRR great

I think SRR had enough pop on his punches to make Hagler respect him. I don't see a knockout but Ray isn't an easy guy to walk through. I see a close fight though.

Ya I could see that ... And I really don't see Hagler beating Lamotta either to tell you the truth.. Lamotta so tough and to much will for the Marvelous One..

Given a series I wouldn't be surprised if Marvin took one but for one bout theres nothing to make me pick him over Robby. Marvin at times fought below his ability as in his bouts with Duran, Vito, and I think SRL. Over respecting some opponents seems to have been part of his makeup and that plays into my seeing of this bout as only a fully charged and go Hagler was going to have a shot and the switch hitting wouldn't be a factor, Ray had seen it all.
