I've often wondered about this one myself. But Robinson accomplished more, and fought more quality fighters, even though Leonard took on the best of his day as well, in several divisions , just like Robbie did. But Robinson fought in the strongest era in all history, and this gives him the edge. Robinson wins a three fight series 2-1.

As much as I respect mosley, he's not worthy of a true SUGAR name.

I actually think SRL would win this, his defence would be the factor.

Wow.. Real talk right there and as crazy as it sounds, I tend to agree.

It's not abnormal to think that Ray Leonard would win..

NO WAY. Leonard was bullied by duran in fight 1 and was in serious trouble against glass jawed hearn. ray Robinson had serious knockout power in BOTH hands, great speed and a granite chin/will. SRR ko before round 10

I dont mind someone picking SRR over SRL, but by using as your argument because SRL had trouble with a "glass jawed Hearns", is just ignorance. Hearns is an ATG, and would have given anybody in the history of the WW division trouble.

What does that have to do with a head to head meeting? Not saying I disagree with your pick neccessarily, but honestly, what does it have to do with a head to head matchup? You're comparing their resumes and coming to the conclusion that Robinson had the fuller career, so he wins a head to head matchup.

Defense? Leonard got hit A LOT. I think his movement and outside game could help him though, but Robinson also had a good outside game. Robinson is better mid range, and even with Leonard's slight handspeed advantage, Robinson had the better power and better punch placement than even Leonard. I'd say Leonard gives a great fight, taking rounds early, and perhaps winning the first bout, but Robinson figures him out, and as Leonard rarely boxed a full fight, I am not so sure he'd have success winning even one bout, being as Robinson would get the better of the bout in the close to mid range.

People talk about Leonard's defense , but leonard's real game was to attack , he would move in and out . His best shots when attacking were his single shots , a good lefthook and a very good clubbing right. I realy dont think a defensive-minded fighter has a chance against Robinson , his attacks were too fast and calculated to be defended against. That's why i think Leonard would have a chance , he would show some flashy skills in the fight , but his main objective would be to mount effective attacks.

But he would be doing this against Sugar Ray Robinson , Leonard would have success (im a huge Duran fan , but i gotta give credit to Leonard's h2h abillity) , but when Robinson attacks , its a massive attack just stamding in centre-ring , 7-punch combos from nowhere . This would be amazing imo , and Robinson would win on points

Yes, getting hurt by Hearns means you were a KO waiting to happen.....

There should be an admission exam for this message board. Seriously.
