Hi Buddy. You are new here and it's good for the forum to have new members with fresh thoughts and insights into fights and fighters, so let's hope that prevails, during your time here you will see all kinds of matchup's, some will energise you to get involved, some will leave you uninterested, as the posts and topica do with all the group, @InMemoryofJakeLamotta has been a member for 8 years or so, and in my short time on the site he has posted some of the best and most informative post I have read, he knows his stuff, and should you stay the course this will become apparent, so to use the word " bull**** " in reply to his most recent, is frankly, disrespectful and obnoxious, he did what many have done before, mix up weights and fighters, the forum is full of such, it's not what you called it, mind you I have seen such comments and remarks, but I would never use your language to describe such, of course there is free speech here, as there should be, but let's try to keep our conversations civil, and give one and all our members the respect, they deserve, this is meant as a polite steer, you are free to ignore, and dismiss, that is your prerogative, that said I have enjoyed your contributions thus far, and look forward to plenty more. stay safe Mandela, chat soon buddy.
Robinson frequently fought and beat top middles as a welterweight. Look at his 5 fights with Jake LaMotta, a top middleweight of the time. If I'm not mistaken, only in fight 6 did he come in as a middleweight to fight LaMotta. This isn't like Michael Spinks weighing 175 vs Holmes as a heavyweight.
It's insane that he actually did fight world class mws while weighing @ or near the ww limit himself. 10 or more lbs is a huge deficit for a 147 lb fighter to concede.
Hi Buddy. Accepted, and thanks, look forward to many more posts from your good self. stay safe, chat soon.
Robinson's skill level and dynamic athleticism would still be enough for him to beat Zale , even if he came in at welterweight. Possibly he'd do better than expected, because Zale though a tremendous puncher , and aggressive, wasn't the type to crowd his opponent, like say Lamotta was . He needed room to generate his tremendous power. Conversely, that would give Robinson the room he needed to beat him.
