Would he would have been considered the p4p best for the last 6 years if he would have pulled a mayweather and avoided unneccesary dangerous fights for his style (tall fighters with a great jab)?

I remember he had just jumped rjj in some p4p lists before his fight with forrest. He beat de la hoya in his prime, twice. In his prime, he would have certainly beaten mayweather, and i think he could/would beat him now. Of course his reign would have ended with cotto, which was really close and could have easily been judged a draw or went the other way.

I think he would have been p4p best if he pulled a mayweather, but he would have eventually been exposed like mayweather and forced to choose b/w retirement or dangerous opponents.

btw, mayweather is my favorite boxer

Had he taken the light road after the the first De La Hoya fight.
and gave Oscar the rematch and beat him in II.
I'd say Yes. (Shane was on top of the Boxing world in 2000 after DLH)

    Good thing Shane had heart.
And gave us some great fight's instead of taking the easy way out.

Mosley is a great lightweight. Had a decent run at 147 but at 154 totally flopped.

Shane is the epitome of a true champion. Yeah, he could've cherry picked after the first DLH fight but that wasn't his style. Mayweather will never be teh fighter Mosely is and when its all said and done, I believe Mosely without a doubt deserves to be rated above Fraud on the all time list.

mosley had the skills and natural ability to do so against light resistance. He has been taking dangerous fights like a winky and forrest, goes to show mosley ducks no one and is a true warrior. He'd be rated high all time if so

Yeah exactly man its not a flop at all to go 3-2 at a weight 20 ibs from where you started. Vargas and DLH where 2 of the great Junior Middleweights of the last decade and Mosley beat them plus he almost beat Wright in the rematch.

Vargas was almost totally shot and Shane was lucky to get the decision against DLH.

Look peeps Mosley is one of my favorite fighters even up to now . . . but him being the number #1 p4p is highly unlikely.

Facts: Yes he beat DLH twice: one at 147 and once at 154 but he lost to Vernon Forrest twice at 147 before he climb up at 154 and lost twice to Wright after beating DLH there.

One thing sure . . .I'll always give a lot more of respect to a fighter like him who always seeks tough and dangerous competitions that a fighter like Floyd who choses the path of least resistance and seeks money more than anything else. And also more . . . than a fighter like Hamed who quit only after one loss.

Mosley earned his name inside the ring not by hyping.

I never considered Mosely the no1 p4p even at his very peak, top 3 at best IMO.

Damn straight. People are still avoiding Forrest and Winky Wright and Mosley was willing to face them when no other elite fighters would.

this is true, this ocurred after mosley beat vargus. and i think it had more to do with goldenboy promotions preferring mayweather's next fight to be a mega fight with de la hoya (and mayweather knew this, so called out mosley); which wouldn't be a mega fight if mayweather fought mosley b/c mayweather would no longer be undefeated or p4p best. After mayweather beat de la hoya, he was offered and pressed by boxing media to fight mosley, but wouldn't...and retired. hmmm.
