Sugar Shane is too small at 147 and 154. He was a tremendous lightweight and I think would a great light welter weight as well if not for the money fight with the golden boy.
In his prime the top welterweights are huge and superbly talented in Oscar, Tito, quartey, margarito, Forrest, Mayorga. That's why he got a few set back losses.

HOF for sure, as for ATG depends how you define it. I don't see him as greater than his contemporaries such as, Roy, Oscar,Hopkins, Tito, Pac, floyd, Barrera, morales, Marquez.
I think he is on the rank of tszyu or calzaghe. Great fighter nonetheless.

Didn't he and Winky retire on the same day... back in like 2012? Wish he would have stuck to it.

Tack on one more huge name to the list of 2017 retirements.

Good, it's about time, quite frankly its about 5 years too late, he should have retired after the Pacquiao match.

It's way past him time to retire. He almost knocked Void out, but let Void off the hook.........looked as if it was on purpose.............but Void was hurt for a while.......

A wise if not late decision. A great fighter in his day and there's something about his character I quite like. The PED scandal is hard to look past but to his credit he's at least admitted it I suppose.

    Thank you, Shane.

With Cotto retiring this year, you've basically seen the retirement of an entire generation of fighters recently.

Klitschko, Bradley, Cotto(in the next few months), Pacquiao is probably going into his last fight, Guererro, Uchiyama, Miura, Mosely, Mayweather was retired but has one last freak fight.

Basically its a completely new era.
