...a major discredit to his performance in the first fight!

Look, i'm a big fan of both and i was very excited to see Cotto do what he did last week. But why is everybody suddenly talking like Cotto lost to Mayweather 2 years ago because he didn't fight to the best of his ability? He fought his ass off that night!

I thought he was very impressive, landing solid jabs, getting Mayweather against the ropes many times and unloading with combinations, and at times moving and actually making Mayweather miss quite effectively. Overall though, he didn't land enough clean blows when he had Mayweather against the ropes and got hit too much in return.

Please, someone explain to me how he could do dramatically better in a rematch.

Sure he's going to fight as he always did but this will be at 160 and Mayweather never fought there before so that could make a major difference in both of their performances.

all of these reasons and also if he can get the fight in The Garden that could make an extra 5% difference with the fans on his side. I was there against Martinez last night and the support Cotto gets in that building is phenomenal

FLoyd has beaten a Freddie Roach fighter twice....

The weight they will be at at MW is what they were on fight night last fight give a few lbs.

Floyd is getting older so...that could be a factor but i think he's still sharp.

Cotto won around 3 rounds the last time,Floyd will win again because he is a better fighter, its simple as that, beating an old injured middleweight has flattered him Cotto..

Why is it a discredit to Cotto ?

Sure he fought his ass off...and you're implying he can't improve!!!

Yep...he had Mayweather against ropes landing clean body shots. But would quickly back off.
Under Roach Cotto is confidently sitting on his punches...he is definitely a more complete strategic fighter under Roach!

That's why Cotto himself said he could have done better even goes further and says he would have KO'd Floyd !!!

Mayweather almost lost to Maidana. He's clearly declined.

Is this one of those threads that feigned praise while trying to make it out like Cotto can really do no better? Even Diaz has stated in a recent interview that Cotto with Roach will make it a better fight for Cotto. He's praising the pairing.

    1. Freddie Roach is 0-2 vs Mayweather

    2. Won't matter, Cotto comes in at 155... he will still get demolished by May. May 9-3 Cotto'd the last time around.

    3. He is still better than Cotto, by a wide margin. :deal
