I'm surprised Ward took this fight. Barrera isn't Kovalev, but he's no pushover. I hope Ward knows what he's gotten himself into.

Barrera's been waiting a long time to get his shot and a decent payday. No doubt frustration must be boiling over.

He's not going to want to let this opportunity pass him by. He will look to make a great account of himself for sure. It's his shot.

Ward better train his ass off for this fight. There is nothing more lethal than an angry and hungry fighter finally getting his chance.

Barrera might very well ruin the chance of the Kova vs Ward fight, before Ward does it himself.

It's a huge step up from an out of shape Paul Smith to an actual full blown hardhitting top20 light heavyweight in Berrera.
I expect a close but clear UD for ward, like 8 to 4 or thereabout, but you never know.

I expect a Ward UD as well. But I'm not ruling out Barrera by KO. And I expect Barrera to put up a fight.

I don´t really get how is this a huge step? If he´s so good as so many is calling him to be, it shouldn´t be a step at all. He had a tune up already. Barrera is a novice with his 17-0 record. His best win is Murat. Barrera is very similar to Monroe Jr. who had 20 fights before he faced Golovkin and his best win was against Vera. It shouldn´t be a step up at all. And for a matter of fact, Barrera weighted exactly the same as Ward on his last fight (172). He isn´t even a full blown LHW.

I wast super impressed with Ward vs Smith

He seemed slower and less fluid definitely rusty but not quite as quick as he used to be.

I never saw Barerra fight before so I cant speak for this fight but the Ward I saw vs Smith does not beat the top at 175

I had the exactly same observation. He didn't look his extra sharp usual self. And with his inactivity he will hard time to get back to his best. Floyd has the amazing ability to come very strong after long layoffs. It remains to be seen if Ward can emulate this.

I've been watching his fights on youtube, he doesn't really impress me at all. The only things he's bringing to the table is size and a will to win. He's skills aren't that great, doesn't seem very fast, average power. The super six version of ward would easily handle this guy, but current ward isn't looking so great.
