Sullivan Barrera would have Ko'd Andre Ward had he more power. Fight was a lot closer than imagined

Currently there is a fantasy/delusion thread on Ward fighting GGG and a lot of his mascots believes GGG stands next to no chance and that ward will be too elusive for Kovalev.

This prompted me to rewatch the berrera fight in full again to remind myself of great Ward's renowned defensive work that he is famous for. Yet to my surpise the bum who ward carefully hand picked to make himself look good, was at times able to land on Ward at will

There is a highlight video of the main action that I've linked down below and you will notice that it was a lot closer than people think if you take away the flash knock downs. There were times that this 23rd ranked f level fighter, Sullivan Barrera managed to basically bully and over power Andre Ward and have his way with him, throwing him around the ring as if he was nothing more than cheap left over dog meat.

Keep in mind he hasn't the fraction of the ability or power of someone like GGG or kovalev yet still had numerous moments of success that makes me believe that if he indeed possessed a bit greater power and wasn't some complete bum picked up off the streets of Cuban, then he would have completely ruined Ward in what should have been a one sided beat down that made Ward look vastly superior. Instead what we saw was what looked like two evenly matched fighters going to war for 12 rounds.

Here are the main events of the fight and I've highlighted the time frame in which Berrera lands good combinations to both upper and lower regions with great consistent success. Now just imagine if Kovalev who has triple times that power or ggg, they would have a field day mauling Ward into oblivion.

Just ask yourselves in what world does Ward manage to hold off kovalev for 12 rounds with these kind of slow and redundant reflexes and leaky defence?

1. 24 secs - berrera lands some nice clean body shots to the solar plexus where Ward has shown in previous fights where he leaves himself open. (GGG would have a field day)
2. 1:02 secs Berrera has his way landing on ward with the triple jab
3. 1:05 sec - Berrera lands flush right hand on Ward's chin that forces him to back up against the ropes and bererra follows up with a nice combination
4. 2:33 secs - Berrera over powers Ward and bullies him against the ropes like he is his rag doll play thing
5. 3.55 secs - Basically he mauls Ward
6. 4:08 secs - Stands there toe to toe with and brazenly trades with ward showing absolutely no respect for Wards power
7. 4:25 - triples up on the jab with success
8. 4:44 - lands a clean 1-2 on ward's chin
9. 5:00 secs - Just basically treats Ward like he's his *****
10. 5:38 secs - Barrera backs ward up on the ropes to rough him up and has his way with him
11. 5:58 - Barrera puts together a tidy combination but sadly his feather fisted hands prevent from doing real damage.
12. 6:06 - he treats Ward like he a ittle boy and roughs him up with some nice combinations
13. 7:38 - lands a nice uppercut followed by a right hand that lands flush on Wards head

 

Did you even watch the video? This isn't about hating Ward, this is calling a fight as it is presented without the biased commentary up Ward's backside.

Turn the sound off and watch objectively and you will see Berrera had much success in the fight and that doesn't bode well for Ward when he finally gets in the ring with a current gen elite fighter who is faster, stronger and more fearsome than anyone he has ever faced in his entire career.

 

No one is doubting that Ward wonthe fight, he controlled most of it, as was to be expected when you have a selected an opponent ranked 23rd and you are supposedly the self proclaimd p4p king.

Yet it is clear Barrera had his moments and backed up Ward numerous times. It was in no shape or form any kind of clinic like his fans are making it out to be. If berrera had dynamite in his fists he could easily have sent Ward to sleep with the amount of shots he was landing

Dress it up how you like, but Berrera was encouraged by the amount of times he was able to land flush on Ward and that shouldn't be happening to an allegedly ''p4p'' fighter.

 

Did you even watch the video, or are you one these mascots blinded by the myth that Ward is untouchable because of what he did 6 years ago?

The old andre ward wouldn't have got caught so often by lets be honest, a no good bum who was there to make Mr Ward look good.

 

There is no shame in being involved in a competitive fight with a fighter of Chilemba's calibre. A fighter who is very awkward, slick and defensive and knows how to survice. You can't compare Chilemba to a 34 year old no hoper in Berrera who simply turned up to collect a pay cheque.

The thread is only meanginless because it exposes the leaky defence Wlad now holds. You are like the fat kid ignorantly plugging his ears shut with his fingers while the kids around him are screaming at him that he is fat
