This is what John L Sullivan had to say after Jim Jeffries beat Bob Fitzsimmons for the title.

It is interesting that he made such a bold prediction so early in Jeffries career.

Not enough to pick him over a novice Jeffries or avoid him as an active but shot fighter.

I have Sullivan picking Fitz over Jeffries. I will try and source it today or tomorrow.

    He did indeed.

Sullivan's picks were generally pretty ****, I think. He was more a sporting man loyal first and foremost to friends rather than a good analyst of fighters, in my opinion.

Its funny how world class boxers often turn out to be diabolical forecasters of fight results.Jim Corbett and Joe Louis were both notorious for getting it wrong.
