He couldn't get off because ward was making him miss and catching him with counters. The handspeed difference is getting massively overblown here. What you saw was a huge difference in ability, not handspeed

 

Barrera could not hit him flush credit to Ward he was very bruised in the post conference one thing the rusty Ward of last night would have a hard time against the Krusher

 

When you age your skin cant stretch as much and you cut easier. Example would be Jones vs Calzaghe. Ward is only 32 but there is still a difference from a man in his mid-20's.

 

Ward is losing his Collagen in the skin as result gets cut, bruise and inflame easy its tough to be a boxer for 22 years plus his body is showing signs too many injuries.

 

Barrera looked bad because of Ward. If Ward had a fight before this I'm confident he would have stopped Barrera.

Paul Smith was before this? Barrera was lined up all night for a straight right hand. Ward never used it much. I still haven't figured out why. In the post fight presser they didn't directly ask him but he said he felt he didn't need the right hand.

You've watched, what, 8 fights? Barrera isn't slow for the weight, he just isn't fast. The guy is 190 lbs. he's probably faster than Fonfara and definitely faster than PAscal now.
