That's the way I see it.

"Oh no, but Briggs can punch!"

Yeah... and Vitali has taken bombs from heavy handed punchers before; Peter, Sanders, Arreola, and Lennox Lewis. So it's clear that he can take a shot as good as anyone. So taking that into account that reduces Briggs's chances to about, hmmm, ZERO!

Briggs won the first round, even shaking his opponent a bit but Ibragimov did indeed dominate the rest of the fight. Briggs only landed 53 punches that whole fight and looked ready to be stopped late, only if Ibragimov had stepped up the pressure.

Liakhovich could've stopped Briggs too IMO. I was at that fight live and I remember thinking in the 10th round if only one of these two boring ****s would step up their offense they could easily KO the other as they were both prety exhaused by that point. Briggs was the one who actually stepped it up and got the KO, but a stoppage for either guy at that point wouldn't have surprised me.

Vitali fights much more conservatively these days to avoid this. That is why you see so many on these boards say that Citaly is "slowing down" when he is still winning every round.

Actually Briggs' win against Liakhovich is a bigger indication he'll lose this fight than his loss against Ibragimov. Liakhovich is easy to hit, but didn't get stopped until the end of the 12th- Vitali is far harder to hit and will more than likely make a bloody mess of Briggs by the 12th

Briggs will always have a punchers chance though. I've always wanted to see Briggs-Valuev for some reason. Valuev is particularly good against big guys who aren't very mobile, but if Briggs lands flush on Valuev he could easily go down. Not the sort of fight that would ever happen, unfortunately

That's something that really bothers me about boxing. I wish it were more of a set schedule. In the NBA, you don't see New York saying, "we'll, we aren't going to play Miami tonight, too much of a risk right now, we aren't ready, etc...".

Now I know the sports are completely different, and one loss can change a career in boxing, that's not so in basketball. Still though....I wish more of these interesting match ups would get made.

Those were the only punches landed in one of the worst fights I've ever seen.

If you want to see boring, tune in on Saturday. Briggs is going to make Sosnowski look like Muhammad Ali.
