    I completely disagree.

Sultan is way more skilled than Chagaev. Chagaev uses a very predictable style.

Ibragimov went in to survive, Chagaev tried to win.

Sultan was flashier. But Chagaev, in my mind, had brilliant counter-punching, great shot selection, and a cool as ice head.

He also had no athleticism, and got stuck trying to do things that were working early and might not be working late. This is why Sultan wins.

It would have been a good match up. Ibragimov is underrated. He really had good foot speed, good hand speed, and some power. Iggy could, brawl, or counter. Solid guy.

Chagaev to me is a bit more technical, but not quite the athlete Ibragimov was. Perhaps Chagaev had was a tad more durable, and hit a little harder.

Close match up. I think Ibragimov's hand speed would earn him a very close split decision in a fight where both men had their share of moments.

It would've been an interesting chess match, maybe. To me, these guys fit in a similar group, in the sense that neither are great fighters but they're both very good fighters. Neither seem to have that one big exploitable hole in their game. I mean, not in the basic categories, like neither are feather-fisted or particularly slow, or defensively poor. They both have respectable power, respectable skill, respectable this, respectable that. They're both kind of weird southpaws that can be befuddling and offbeat. ...I guess what I'm saying is my input is empty. I don't strongly feel either would take it. Wow. It just occurred to me how many words I used for a comment that is void of meaning. I need to run for office.

    Chagaev UD

He has more offensive arsenal and I belive he is more talented than Sultan. Chagaev edges Ibragimov in power, their hand speed is comparable - Sultan has better jab, Ruslan throws better power punches. Both are skilled fighters but Chageav would be the aggressive one.

Then Iggy's smarter than Chagaev as well...there's a lot to be said if you go in to survive and bank on getting lucky somewhere down the road...especially when you know you've got the big gun's against you in your heart of hearts..I can't believe that either Iggy OR Chagaev really believed deep down that they would beat that giant...at least Sultan finished on his feet..he was clever enough to do that.

If you really want to break it down...

Sultan is a versatile fighter. He can fight going fowards and backwards, and has dramatically improved his defense under Mayweather.

Chagaev is a Kessleresque very European style fighter, that needs range to operate and is predictable.

Neither guys are very good athletes, but I believe Sultan slightly edges Chagaev.

Sultan also probably edges Chagaev in power, and handspeed.

Considering both men are southpaw's, I think this would favor Sultan considering his style.

He would stay on the outside, and walk Chagaev into punches, winning a clear decision.

Still bummed that we never got to see this one, I think it would have been a very competitive fight. Sultan by close decision, possibly late rounds TKO imo.

I would've liked to have seen it too. I think Sultan's edge in speed probably wins out over Chagaev's edge in size/strength.

Agreed. I think Sultan had more pop on his punches too.
