Ooof, I dread having to watch a fight between Thompson and Ibraghimov I'd say Sultan wins that one though. He was one of the more talented heavyweights of that generation apart from the Klitschko's, with his speed, southpaw stance, good skills, and decent power The WBO heavyweight title was on a strange oddessey for a few years there, passing from Brewster to Sergei Liakovych in a huge upset, then to Shannon Briggs in another huge upset, and then Sultan beat Briggs in a rather bland performance, before defending against a thoroughly washed Holyfield and then handing the belt over to Wladimir
I’m leaning towards Ibragimov winning a decision over Thompson. I like Tony but I can also see how a guy like Iggy might out move and fluster him. As for Gerry Cooney vs Chris Byrd, I’m not too sure. On the surface it looks like a potential KO win for Cooney. But Chris managed to linger around with some very big and power heavyweights and even got wins over some of them. Not an easy fight either way.
Ibragimov UD. 116-112 or so Cooney-Byrd? Tough to visualize how this one would unfold. I guess I wouldn't be shocked if Cooney were to bomb him out at some point, but if I had to choose, I'd go with the more skilled Byrd in an awkward fight, by a close decision.
