Sultan Ibrigamov vs Andrew Golota and Gerry Cooney

Neither of them would hold it together against Iggy over 12.

 

No way does Golota win. Cooney pre-Holmes might, but I'd still favor Ibragimov.

 

I wouldnt call Golota a power puncher, he could punch but he;s not in Cooney's class as far as power goes.

 

I actually believe Golota gives Ibragimov a lot of issues, Ibragimov isn’t really someone who’d test the will of Golota, he’s a master boxer, but Golota is also a really good boxer, and the reason I’m saying this despite Golota’s performances, is that when he did quit or capitulate, it was when he got hit by punchers, Bowe, Grant, Tyson etc.

When he fought Chris Byrd, who is better than Grant and that version of Tyson, Golota held it together and clearly beat Byrd due to styles.

Edit: As for Ibragmov vs Cooney, I believe Ibragimov outboxes him all night long, Cooney is square on and there for the southpaw straight left head and body all night long, and Cooney isn’t the hardest to read, Ibragimov would see his returns coming all night long, Cooney is all hand up, board like, and sure he has quick hands and decent technique, but predictable patterns and not enough extension or enough ways of setting things up from the outside, lead hand stays in the same position, no feints, no level changes, just a wooden like jab to close the distance.

Also, I’d have Cooney to beat Golota despite all of this.

 

Ray Austin got a draw vs Ibragimov i beg to differ.

Ibragimov won a title against Shannon Briggs who himself won the title in one of the worst Heavyweight title fights i've ever seen.

Ibragimov is nothing special he beat a couple of B and C class Heavyweights past their prime.

And his big notable wins are over a Shannon Briggs in his late 30s and a 44 year old ancient Evander Holyfield.

Am i saying Ibragimov wouldn't win both fights vs Cooney or Golota ? no. But i don't think he's an overwhelming favourite either, his resume or performances are nothing stand out in my view.

 

You should see what Austin did to Golota. Austin was a difficult, underrated fighter and I think Ibragimov had a hand injury in that fight.

Cooney never won a twelve round decision. Golota was the king of finding a way not to win. Chances are Ibragimov beats both.
