Sultan Imbagimov vs Tony Thompson who wins?

Thompson will find out as other Ibragimov opponents have found out; his awkward style is difficult to work against. Ibragimov will simply find angles that will befuddle Tony.

 

Interesting fight. thompson really is a sleeper. He is not the reincarnation of a dominant HW-champ, but he is good enough to give a lot of people trouble incl. Ibragimov). Strong mentality, good defense, big southpaw....

 

I agree. If Ibragimov is freed up from any mandatories, he should show that he meant it when he said he wants to unify. :good I think he even supposedly said, right after the Holy win, that he is out to unfiy, so let's see if he really means it.

Chagaev vs. Wlad would be the fight to make, certianly, but I think we'll see Chagaev fight someone easier, seeing as how he's coming out of his illness and was out for a while. That's what I think,anyway. I think he'll take an easy defense, next, but I hope not.

After the Sultan Chagaev unification fight was screwed up, I want to see two guys with belts get in there together. And ANY two guys with belts will do. :good Any combination will work for me.

Thompson is even more limited that Iggy, and he's OLD. On the other hand, I've picked against him in every fight and he always seems to win - so I can't say I'm overly confident about this.

This is a pick 'em fight, and I go with Sultan, by close, maybe even disputed, decision.

Who cares? Just joking... It's hard to pick against Thompson the way he beat Krasniqi and it's hard to pick against Iggy the way he fights but there are days and other days. Thompson would technically shut down most heavyweight top dogs however...

Wlad's good fortune and Sultan's misfortune, Tony T is a real pain in anybody's rear, I don't know what I would do if nobody wanted to fight me for reasons other than fear.

 

Even you can't fault Thompson's chin- that's saying something. A strong chin + good workrate + size + strength = a difficult opponent for anyone.

Thompson may be old, but in the ring he comes across as one of the youngest heavyweights around.

 

You could be right - like I said, given that Thompson has proven me wrong every time I've picked against him, I can't say for certain that he WOULDN'T beat Ibragimov. I do agree that it wouldn't be easy, anyway you slice it.

 

One thing that Ibragimov has is pretty good handspeed, Thompson on the other hand appears to be very slow from what I have seen. I think Ibragimov will win a UD as he knows how to maximise his strengths, despite him being a rather average boxer.
