Me too, I kinda thought the fight would of been a 50/50, as most did at the time the fight was announced. I remember predicting a Chagaev win at the time, because of the success he had over the previously unbeaten Valuev. Iggy was coming off of wins over Briggs and Holyfield, both of which were less than stellar contests that showed Iggy couldn't finish the job when push came to shove.

yeah both aggressive, strong, skilled, 6ft1, southpaws.honestly i chose chagaev becuase he works a left cross much straighter and used better movement. but iggy pawned briggs and totally outpointed holy...remember holyfield came a hair from winning against valuev,

i guess iggy looked better agaisnt wlad aswell.

im sure he will come back later next year but he is a solid humble guy so it could be formal certification that he is retiring.

    anyways best to him

Agree about him fighting Chagaev ,would've been interesting. I really think Jeff Mayweather hurt him. In one way he helped him beat Briggs by incorporating a safety first, pecking away style, but in another hurt SI badly against Wlad where his old, aggressive style combined with his being a southpaw could have made that fight a different story.

Watch Ibragimov's early fights and he was a super aggressive, quick, dangerous small heavyweight. His fights against Ahunanya and Whitaker were very good. That aggression was the only shot he had against Wlad, and he chose not to employ it.

I'll miss watching him if for no other reason he was well-schooled and knew his way around a ring. When he was coming forward he was as good a heavyweight, minus the Klits, as we've had in recent years.

Iggy had very heavy hands for his size. I liked how he seemed to always come back with an angry counter anytime anyone tagged him. Chag vs Iggy would have rocked, they both are about the same size and both have power. I kinda favor Chag as he is the better boxer and showed an Iron chin vs Wlad and Iggy showed he could be hurt vs Austin. Really its a 50/50 fight. Just thought of something interesting.. they were both muslim and left handers... oh well just a random observation.

Sultan had a good career but it could've been more. Sultan gave us exciting fights though.
