Does anyone remember this bout? The scorecards indicated a close decision for Kalambay but I seem to remember Kalambay putting on a one-sided clinic on Barkley. What are your thoughts on this bout?

I watched highlights of it on Sportsworld Extra (it was meant to be Graham/Barkley:(); Kalambay seemed to win fairly easily from my 22 year memory....

I have it, Kalumbay won pretty easily. Its worth having just for Marvin Hagler and Boom Boom Mancini's commentary.

Why in God's name was Iran given so much lee way on judges cards?

No way the Nunn fight was a MD, nor was the Kalambay fight particularly close.

Were their styles disliked and his favored or what?

Like a lot of kalambay's fights at this time it was fought in a tiny poor quality ring that had both fighters slipping all over the place at times.

barkley actually fights a cautious fight behind the jab for long stretches, even sticking and moving late on...which prompted Hagler to more or less accuse him of quitting.

Barkley got countered heavily when he did try and get more aggressive, but unlike some of his later post-Duran fights he kept his form and tried to score points more than wade forward winging bombs. This only allowed kalambay to comfortably outbox him and clearly win the vast majority of rounds, but didn't really make for a great fight as kalambay was content to do coast along for a comfortable decision.
