Carter has his moments and shakes Kalamby up a few times,, but for the most part he is out boxed. 10 rounds to 5.

The Hurricane blows through Kalambay. Sumbu was sound defensively, but doesn't have the arsenal to keep Carter honest.

Do you always choose the puncher, lap? No matter what?

Only if the boxer in the contest doesn't have the punch to keep the puncher away. A slick defense has success against lots of punchers but not one as relentless/hard hitting as Carter. Ali was a rare exception to this rule.

More often than not you'd think Kalambay would get the job done, but given a few attempts Carter might nail him once.

True. Carter was faster and a better boxer than Iran Barkley, though not nearly as big. As long as Kalambay can get going and settles into a rhythm though, Carter would struggle to keep up with him in the boxing department. Kalambay just had too many moves. Carter's regular "set-ups" for his big knockout punches wouldn't work after a while.

Most unfitting music for a Kalambay highlight but a surprising amount of clips from different fights of his:

Yeah, i stumbled on that a few weeks ago when i was putting up a link to the Perunovic fight. It's a pretty terrible highlight really, i almost posted it anyway for a laugh, but didn't want to be an ******* for once.

It would almost make you think he was an angry powerpunching slugger, though that was something that i liked about him.He generally wasn't afraid to launch a cluster of clubbing bombs or awkward looping shots and mix things up from more textbook punching.

Clearly one of the most skilled fighters I've ever seen. Would have liked to see him against more of the top MWs of the time. What a stacked division it was back then.

Now all we need is a Ayub Kalule KO compilation.

Really I was just surprised to see clips from fights that I don't have.

Good display by Kalambay here against a pressuring opponent:

that's cool he actually has a highlight now. for years the only fight available was the Nunn fight. there's been a hell of a lot more in the past year or so thought thanks to a couple of youtubers, both of whom I believe post here. the Sims and Barkley fights are the only really essential fights of his missing on youtube(but available on a torrent site).
