I went to the Sunderland card of the Hatton PPV (first time I have been to see boxing live) and I thought I would give an account of my thoughts on the more notable fights.

Larry Olubamiwo was very poor, and lost pretty decisively against Peret. I had him losing by 3 points (peret won 4 rounds, olubamiwo 1 round, 1 even) and he was outboxed for most of the fight, which shows I was wrong to overrate him.

McDonagh vs Webb was a poor fight in my eyes. There was no notable action and the atmosphere was seriously lacking apart from a couple of annoying ladies cheering McDonagh on (who quickly departed when he lost). To be honest I did not score the fight and was searching for boxers/other notable people in the crowd (Cleverly, Barrie Jones and Niall Quinn were a few I spotted at ringside).

The Munroe fight was OK, not too many exciting moments but some good boxing from Munroe and the fight was supported by the atmosphere from his fans.

The atmosphere really began to pick up for the Moore fight and it was a efficient performance by Moore against a fighter who was unwilling to fight back, probably due to him being scared of leaving himself open.

The atmosphere for the Williams fight was electric, which was aided by the fact McDermott wore a Sunderland top. I thought it was a decent fight for the first 8 rounds, (not sure how it was broadcast on TV, heard it was a poor fight, but the atmosphere made it much better) and I felt Williams won by a good couple of rounds.

Missed the Jeffries fight, parked in a car park which closed at midnight so had to leave to get to the car. Wasn't too bothered about missing it and have watched the vid of it, Jeffries looked good against the walking tomato can.

Overall it was a decent night, knockout of the night (apart from pacquiao IMO) was from Travis Dickinson (was this shown on the PPV?).

Yeah, the Dickinson knockout was shown.
Williams v McDermott was poor to start with but livened up a bit later on.
I don't think they showed the Olubamiwo fight unless I missed it.
I agree with all your other views on the other fights.

Williams v McDermot - I really don't think fighters should be allowed into the ring as drunk as these two.

    Williams vs McDermott was awful.

There was the usual Sky thing - saying how well McDermott was doing.... yet the action in the 1st half of the fight suggested completely the opposite.

We had a bit of a house party with about 12 of us lads and a few of the lads sisters and friends, they were all asking what the **** Adam Smith was talking about - the black guy is easily beating the white guy (not knowing their names obviously).....

The guy Moore was fighting looked like a scared rabbit - typical weakass 1st defence.... other than to keep the bank balance topped up after a couple of years of relative inactivity there was no relevance to the 'contest' at all.

Munroe looked OK in spurts..... the other guy was awkward and better than his record suggested.... he took the body shots pretty well but was outclassed throughout. Rendall either needs a little break or step up in class. For me there isn't much of a co-incidence, his best two displays (for me) have come against the guy perceived to carry the most threat (Martinez).... against the others he has tended to go through the motions and largely won with ease.

Euro level has been cleaned out PDQ.... time to step up for me. So what if he loses..... at least he gave it his best.
