Bateson Masoud has started.

 

Masoud 10-9 round 1.
Bateson putting the pressure on Masoud who tries to put him in his place with two solid straight left early. Bateson lands a bit in return. Both men have thrown heavily to the body so far and both are landing quite a bit. Close round but I'd edge it to Masoud with his left straights landing clean repeatedly in a round that was even enough on number of punches landed.

 

Masoud looks really good.

 

Bateson 10-9 round 2, 19-19 overall.
Masoud has really found his mark with the straight left as he pings Bateson with it early in this round again. Bateson trying to throw multiple shots to the body but Masoud is finding that counter left consistently. Bateson is now throwing to the body less recklessly and is having success with it. He then lands more up top as a result, his right straight coming into it but Masoud is still finding clean well timed lefts, it's not enough to take the round for me though as Bateson's volume was significantly higher.

 

Masoud 10-9 round 3, 29-28 overall.
My goddamn internet died on me for the earlier portion of this round but since it resumed it seems Masoud has been finding many clean counters to Bateson's incessant pressure so I'll give him this round.

 

Correction: Masoud looks great.

 

That was the entirety of the round. Bateson couldn't hit him and Masoud couldn't miss.

 

Masoud 10-9 round 4, 39-37 overall.
Masoud providing answers for most of the problems posed by Bateson here. Bateson's lack of head movement is being severely punished by Masoud who's managing the distance fantastically and has his timing down. Even looking slick in defence now as he's rolling out of the way of many Bateson shots.

 

My card is the exact same as you. I gave Bateson round 2 that’s it. Masoud is good but very flat-footed. I don’t think his style will translate into success at world level especially because he doesn’t throw much outside of counters

 

Masoud was the underdog?! Someone's about to make some money.

Masoud 10-9 round 5, 49-46 overall.
Bateson starts very fast with a lot of combinations which are getting a few landed shots through. Masoud is still finding counters but Bateson is now moving his head and avoiding more straight shots than he's taking. Masoud lands a huge left hand that temporarily rocks Bateson and then follows it with a sweet left uppercut as Bateson dips low. Bateson stands up to it though and tries to pummel his way back into the round but he eats more clean lefts as a result to lose a round he was doing well in.

 

Even with that you severely underestimated the difference in levels between the two. The only punches Bateson is really "landing" are ineffective flurries against Masoud's guard, and that's when Masoud doesn't just flat-out evade them and lands a counter straight left or uppercut when Bateson ducks to clinch.
