Bateson again starts fast, pressing Masoud to the ropes and unloading desperately but he eats another big left off the ropes and again not too long after that. Bateson is likely to get knocked out if he keeps eating these because although he puts on intense pressure he doesn't avoid or block punches nearly well enough. Another Masoud round who's just walking Bateson into lovely single straight shots that land flush.

No, he wasn't. He was a -400/450 favorite. Bateson was a +350 underdog pre fight.

Bateson is trying his little heart out god bless him but Masoud is just finding these straights way too easily. If Masoud moved his feet more he'd take Bateson completely out of this fight frankly. Bateson is getting closer a lot more easily now and he's landing a few around the high guard from Masoud.

 

ya Masoud way better in the pros, his style adapted better to the pro ranks, crazy that Bateson had a much better amateur career tho beating some world class names there

Bateson is still undeterred in putting on the pressure despite the shots he's eating in return, I gotta commend him for that. Masoud is still picking beautiful shots as he seems to spot openings appearing incredibly quickly, he's very sharp right now. Bateson has his head right up in Masoud's chest as he's pushing hard on him on the inside but Masoud is entirely comfortable tucking up in his high guard as Bateson isn't nearly as good at finding gaps in the guard while taking many in return.

Bateson still throwing lots of punches but fewer and fewer seem to be getting through the guard now. Masoud isn't throwing too much in return though, perhaps he's tiring under this constant pressure. Masoud finds a few nice shots late but it isn't enough to surpass Bateson's output for me. Still a close round despite the massive gap in activity.
