Here's my point prediction for the end of round 1:

    Abraham: 3+2+2 = 7
    Froch: 2+2+0 = 4
    Dirrell: 0+0+2 = 2
    Ward: 2+2+0 = 4
    Kess: 0+0+0 = 0
    Bika/Green: 0+0+2 = 2

So, from this prediction we've got Abraham, Froch, Ward going through, then Dirrell and Bika/Green both on 2 points lying in 4th/5th position. Anyone know what happens in this scenario?

Obvious answer I guess would be to pit Dirrell against Bika/Green, but given the tournament schedules, thats +6 months, meaning Abraham's 2nd round fight will be approx 1 year after his final round 1 bout.

Does this mean we may see Abraham fight someone else during this time? Possibly Bute?

Abraham vs. Bute, I'd go for that. But what if Abraham gets injured, or knocked out, I'm sure the Super 6 promoters will be a bit concerned? But this fight definitely has to happen sometime in the future.

I'm sure there's a ruling on it. It could be something like in other sports when teams finish level on points (head to head record or whatever).

I think rounds won in the fights lost. They have it worked out for sure. If nothing else can seperate them, they will draw the winner.

Geezus Christ, this wasn't even hard to find, although Showtime is not specific regarding the actual "tie-break mechanism".

    Tournament rules #s 6 & 7 from http://sports.sho.com/sswbc/scorecard.html

    "6. Following the Group Stage, the top four point scorers qualify for the Semi-Finals with the bottom two eliminated (In the event of a tie on points, a tie-break mechanism is in place);

    7. Semi-Finals will match the point leader against the fourth place fighter and the second versus the third in single-elimination bouts (In the event of a draw in the Semi-Final bouts, a tie-break mechanism is in place)"

It matters because the guys with the most points (ranked 1st) is gonna fight the guy ranked 4th in the semi-finales....

Well at least they have a mechanism, even though it doesn't say what it is. I'd be interested in finding out.

Well depending on what the mechanism is, this could well be the very first case where a loss could impede more on a boxers resume than its usual tally in the column. Imagine, losing a round/point could well be the deciding factor of who wins the entire tournament.

It could come down to the head to head.
