Can someone please explain WTF the WBA is playing at with all their belts? They recognise 3 champions for all divisions.

WBO, WBC, IBF have a champion in each division, so in total they have 17 champions

The WBA have 42 recognised champions right now, with some of their belts recognised as "vacant"

It's bad enough that we have WBA, WBC, IBF, WBO, WBF, IBO, IBC, WBU champions. And not just ONE legitimate champion, and then Ring magazine adding their two cents and belt to the mix.

What is the point? Does anyone consider Ruslan Chagaev and Luis Oritz as champions? This is why UFC has grown so much, we KNOW who the champion is.

This is what makes people disillusioned with boxing and why it's so easy for people to not care about dodging their mandatory, why wouldn't they when there are a dozen other belts on offer?

WBA has far more than 17 but they are supposedly making a push towards eliminating the excess this year.

I thought that the WBA was going to have tournaments to get rid of the many titles and have just 1 per division?

Anyway it goes there credibility is in the dirt already
