What are the pros and cons of having a division 230+ called SHW?

    Cons:

    - Encouraging guys to get even fatter
    - Diversifying a division already sparse in talent
    - Why do we need it again?

    Pros:

    - None I can think of

So we need to break-up the small amount of talent in the heavyweight division to accomodate fighters that don't want to cut down to CW?

Because 30 pound difference makes a difference.

If you weigh 201, cut the weight and fight at cruiser:patsch

I think we're going to see a decline in the Super large Heavyweights, the division makes no sense, it would be a fatter less competitive version of Heavyweight. Boxing needs to get rid of divisions not add them.

    How about 245 vs 217? Klitschko-Byrd?

as we saw it was byrds choice to weigh that, im 100% sure he could of made cruiser and obviously as we saw 175 (to dire effects)

plus wlad is a physical specimen and weighs as much becaus of his height and build.

byrd was never a legit heavy, as herbie hide was not and now look at him, hes a cruiser.

There would then be 2-8 HW champions in the world at any given time.

    This is just what's needed.

Byrd made light heavy. If he was younger, and chose to fight at cruiser he would have made it very comfortably. He chose to fight at heavy, presumably for money. He's not a natural heavyweight by any means

If you are on the limit you cut to cruiser now that it is set at 200. A lot of the smaller guys can make that, but are either too lazy, too bone idle or fancy a bit of the cash at heavy

If you weigh 230, you have the edge in speed over the bigger guys. Imagine if Haye had a solid chin, you could easily see him blazing this heavyweight division

Also, Chagaev who is an average sized heavy beat Valuev's ass. Enough said.

Yep, that's what happens when you refuse to cut-down, you get your ass kicked.

Heavyweight fighters would almost all be fighting in the lighter heavyweight division, if this were the case. The talent pool in the super heavyweight division would be embarrassingly thin. :-(

Pro... Heavyweights will have to actually train hard in order to make weight.

Con... James Toney will still not make weight

Pro... A Superheavyweight division will mean another 4 titles and more sanctioning fees.

Con... A Superheavyweight division will mean another 4 titles and more sanctioning fees.

Pro... Matches will be on a more even playing ground

Con... Matches will suck beyond belief

How about a 215 prime Tyson vs a 245 Wlad? Or 210 prime Ali or Foreman vs Wlad?

Frankly I'd bet on the small guy in those 3.
