Good news. I guess with Dychko, Hrgovic, Makhmudov, Teslenko, Kuzmin, Sirenko and now Jalolov in the pro game, the division might be almost completely in the hands of Eastern European fighters in a few years.
Jalolov was on my radar as one to watch. He's got a lot of talent, and throws straight powerful punches. Just coming into his own at age 22 for the Olympics ( He lost to Joyce a full grown man ) , I felt he need to work on standing his ground a bit more while being hit, but he's an A plus type of puncher. WOW, the heavyweight division is absolutely loaded with young talent. Hrgovic, Dychko, Joyce, Dobuis, Yoka, Makhmudov and now Jalolov! "Jalolov, who was the flag-bearer for Uzbekistan for the 2016 Olympics, is a 6’6″ power puncher who participated in approximately 97 amateur bouts, winning 84 by mostly first round knockouts. The 23 year-old is a towering knockout artist who won a myriad of international tournaments including a bronze medal at the 2015 World Championships, and a Gold medal at the 2017 Asian championships. Bakhodir represented Uzbekistan at the 2016 Olympics. He holds wins over many notable prospects from Kazakhstan, Cuba and Europe."
I have seen him before a few times. My vote is he will be one of the champions, maybe not #1 overall, but he's a talent above the likes of Parker, or Wilder and would blow out Charr. His amateur losses do not necessarily mean a lot, as he was just 22 for the Olympics. At super heavy, there is a considerable difference physically between age 20-22, and say age 24-32, the ages of his best amateur opponents IMO, he's got the best straight right hand of all the young pro and now at age 23 is just coming into his own. Very large men mature a bit slower. I'm not even sure if Wlad who was incredibly gifted could have won the gold medal at age 20 as he did vs. the current field of super heavyweights. Everyone good is 6'4" to 6"9" tall these days.
There are so many really good Eastern European fighters coming up in the ranks and even more to come, they will win titles, but will be discriminated against................in America..................USTV will boycot them like they have the WBSS and like they did Klitschkos........................
It's a 50/50 possibility. let's see how he looks as pro. Hrgovic has showed some weaknesses in his last fight, those weaknesses could cost him a win against a good opponent.
Wladimir didn't really want to fight that often on US soil. Besides he was a nightmare to negotiate with, according to many. Jololov has signed to US promoter with close ties to Haymon that gives a hope.
I do not. But keep in mind we are basing this on a 22 or less year old amateur, so in theory Jalolov could improve. Hrgovic certainly improved from age 20-22 to age 24. 22 or younger at super heavyweight, which pretty much has all the top guys being 6'4" to 6'9" tall is a tough job vs grown men age 24-32. Jarolov in the amateurs showed better power than Bowe, Lewis or Klitschko. Yes, he's got a real cannon. Why won't he do was well as Hrgovic? His chin is not on Hrgovic's level. Jarolov doesn't fight as well without his reach, height and power advantages, and tends to retreat vs. power punchers, where Hrgovic fires back and takes punches better from what I have seen. Hrgovic also has better skills, and faster feet, and IMO greater heart and courage. Jalolov has been stopped once as an amateur that I am aware of, and it was at the hands of Kamshybek Konkabayev, a very good super heavyweight amateur, who can really punch.
