Both in their prime. Who wins and how?

This could go either way.I'd take Willard over 25rds. Carnera might snatch a dec over 15.
    I'll pick Jess,by dec.

Maaan. Two guys I don't think very much of.

I think I might pick Carnera. He has a reasonable jab and the semblance of a useful technique. Willard has more heart and better stamina but I half wonder if Primo doesn't - dare I say this - outslick him?

Not sure how Carnera would do down the stretch though. His extreme musculature might cause him to gas late.

^ Take this opinion with a pinch of salt. I've never really sat down to dissect this one.

I think Primo was better schooled, but Willard was a tougher more natural fighter. A longer distance for sure helps Willard.

I guess I'd pick Willard overall, he actually had a pretty good defence too.

As Yogi Berra used to say,
That would apply to this fight.

I'd lean toward Carrera on points as he was the better athlete. Willard had poor footwork and defense.

If Carnera beat Willard, Bowe could be next on his hit list

Difficult to say and one could only hazard a guess.

Willard isn't getting rushed by Carnera, I doubt. And, if Jess can measure Carnera early, then I can't see him having trouble landing his long right, with consistency. Carnera might spoil and upset the pace a bit, but I think Willard can prevail by decision in this one.

Carnera was pretty skilled & Jess didnt have the power of the Louis, Baer type of guys. The fight would go the distance and over 10 or 15 Primo wins UD

A bit like Lewis-Akinwande, when you have two normally upright boxers who often rely on a reach advantage, one of them may naturally settle into the role of aggressor.

I think it may be a bit more of a brawl and less of an upright boxing match. Against campolo, carnera fought more aggressively, trading hooks and bringing the uppercut in up close, and Willard was renowned for being tough.

Willard was much more durable and probably the bigger puncher, and I think down the stretch he either lands a big right hand or wears carnera down for a late stoppage.

THIS. I don't think Carnera would last the distance with Willard, whether it's 15 rounds or 25.

I think there was an older thread on this. Anyways, Carnera by UD.

Willard was the straighter puncher, the much harder puncher and the better fighter .. Jess either stops him or by decision in a sloppy hugfest ..

It would get sloppy and at times there wouldn't be much action goin on .If this fight was set for ,say 20 rounds, then I see Jess doing the most damage and being the more aggressive. Stopping Primo around the 16 mark ,with maybe Carnera ahead at the time .
