I'm a Brit and watched all of Calzaghe's career on TV and also went to his last fight with Jones at MSG. He was a great fighter, but could have been even better if his hand problems didn't take most of his power away.

That being said why the need to knock Mayweather, also a great fighter and to disrespect his achievements and opponents is pathetic, and in relation to Gatti also in bad taste given his passing.

Some people need to realise just how much boxers risk by getting in the ring and start showing a bit more respect. I don't particularly like Mayweather, but no-one found a way to beat him and he has made a considerable fortune by building his recognition, despite not being in many 'great' fights. Sure he's not really too bothered what the haters think.

Gatti was a true warrior and great to watch. Anyone prepared to put what he did in to his fights deserves more respect.

Tarver and Johnson were much bigger than Super Joe. And of course Super Joe did it away from home. :deal

Mayweather disprespected fans for years by ripping them off with sh*t bouts and boring performances, while avoiding anyone who was a legitimate threat. I don't care how much money he made.

As for Gatti, who said I don't respect him? I respect any warrior who fights like he did - that doesn't make him HOF worthy.

You can't compare Calzaghe and Mayweather. Calzaghe is the very lowest form of ATG. Mayweather is a Top 40 ATG.

Gatti is HOF not for his ability, but rather he exemplified the warrior spirit of boxing. For that, he absolutely deserves HOF.
But...Genaro Hernandez certainly is no HOF.
Cotto will get into HOF. I personally think he's one good opponent away from it, but he will get in on the basis of his popularity.
Jose Luis Castillo is on the highest tier of fighter who do not make HOF. I really don't think he should be a future HOF, but he might as standards have dropped.

    years before joe did.

joe only got interested when they were turning 40something or more.

Imagine another fighter doing that today, how much ridicule they would receive for facing 40somethings as their career pinnacle. But Calturds give joe a free pass and think hes great for it - no wonder they think beating Super "4-6 rounder" Veit for a world title defence was great too.

Except Hopkins was, as it turns out, probably more in his prime at that stage than Super Joe. :deal:hi:

If HoF is the criteria then mayweather trumps joe easily. Mayweather has wins against Cotto, Canelo, Pac, Hatton, JMM, Diego Corrales, Gatti, ODLH, and Mosley

Maybe, maybe not. But a better version of Hopkins at his best weight lost twice to good, not great, middleweight Jermaine Taylor before the JC fight. And then after fighting Taylor, Hopkins moved up to lightheavy where he compiled a record of 9 wins 3 losses 2 draws with 0 ko victories. If you want to include his losing pro debut at 177 pounds, Hopkins is 9-4-2 at lightheavy. That is hardly the record of a great lightheavyweight.

Also Canelo has a damn good shot at being HOF bound.

Mayweather might have more HOFers on his resume than anyone else in history?

Anyone for more than 9 HOFers?

No, Hopkins was beating world champions after Super Joe. Joe was, at this stage, more worn out than Hopkins.
