Whats the deal with having the SMW limit at 168, the LHW limit at 175, only 7 pounds up, and then the Cruiser limit all the way at 200lbs, 25lbs up from lightheavy. Does anyone else think thats pretty illogical?

imo the SMW division has got to go.

I see your point, the only thing that I can think of is that it seems as the fighters get bigger, the differential in weight gets less significant. That why IMO the real small guys are seperated by 4 lbs and it progressively gets larger in gap as you go. But yeah, 25 pounds between the last two is immense.

Also, look at the difference from CW to HW. 200lb all the way up to the sky's the limit, but generally around 240-250, so there's a good 40-50 pound jump in between those two.

I noticed this on the weight division thread the other night, I think it's too big a gap. If the likes of Calzaghe or Hopkins wanted to step up another division they'd be facing men like David Haye who come fight time weigh over 15 stone.

i think they should eliminate more divisions. it will make each division much deeper and produce better matchups. i mean u got fools going up 20+ pounds after the weigh-in in 1 day. people make too much of weight. moreover, since all the hws are fat, skilless robots smaller men should have no problem competing.

    Middleweight (160-174)
    Light Heavyweight (175-189)
    Heavyweight (190-unlimited)

Well look at 154 to 160. Only 6lbs....the from MW to SMW is 8lbs?

There are alot of divisions I would like to eliminate.

Come to think of it too, WW to JMW is 7 pounds, then JMW to MW is 6 pounds. There is some weird **** there.

Edit- Ooops, didn't see KG's until after I posted.

Didn't cruiser used to be 190? Does anyone know the thinking behind moving it up ten pounds?

arent those the original weight classes? :think sounds good to me. then we could get to see roy jones vs. wlad and see him knock him out the chinless robot in 1 round

The giant HW's is the reason I reckon.

I like Pharoah's idea, it was what I was looking for. However, I would keep 112.

It's got more to do with his ability (or lack of).

cruiser you can come in at 185 or 179 if you wanted. it's a mini heavywieght division. maybe to smooth it out we should have a jr heavywieght division. to make up for it :)

Yeah, it's too big a gap. There's another thread today about 5-division champs, and of course it's all the little guys, because they get classes which are so close together that it's feasible to do that.
