:good"EU-trash b/c level fighter" won over "US-finest/beat Hopkins twice fighter"
Is there any boxing fan, who don't want to watch next episode of the new boxing classic. A division with fighters from all of the world. The "World War of Boxing (WWB)"

    The motto should be:

:bbb"If you want to be 168 King - step into the Ring" :bbb

Exactly. Its been a decent division for 5 years, but had a clear number 1 running things. Now he's gone and the number 2 is locked up in a legal battle, there are lots of potential matchups that could go either way making it exciting. It's the same as what would happen at Heavyweight if the Klit's vanished - There wouldn't be any 'great' fighters left but the division would become exciting because of all the potential matchups.

You're right, for the time being- but the beauty of having all those good/very good fighters means that whoever becomes king of the mountain should get recognition as a great fighter because they'll have fought to the top in the deepest division in the game right now. We'll get to see that as it happens, which is always exciting as a fan to see so long as the promoters don't **** it up and we get to see the fights that need to happen, happen.

A number of guys at that weight have P4P potential- and the best of them over the next 2-3 of years will have racked up P4P credentials to go along with it. :deal

And to think, the supermiddleweight division was dead until Calzaghe finally got off his ass and cleaned it out. Now its seen as the best division in boxing

Someone mentioned Karo Murat, that's another guy we REALLY need to keep our eyes on. I've seen little but from what I've seen, it's REALLY impressive stuff.

I for one dont think that highly of him! Easy to hit,no oustanding weapons. He is a decent fighter with a decent punch, but he wont be a threat to any top dog in my opinion.

Well I do think highly of him so ha! :nut

Still decent fighter means he has to be accounted for. I figure he might even go to MW since that division is as DOA as it gets.

He would probably fare better at middle weight, but I very much doubt that he can make the necessary weight.

Let me put it this way: do you think -seriously-that Murat will be able to be victorious over fighters like Tsypko or Stieglitz.

I for one wouldnt bet a single coin on the German based Armenian against abovementioned opponents.

I always thought this, and the reason why it hasn't been discovered until now is because all of the top fighters finally seem like they are willing to face each other instead of only fighting in their back yard. You have Carl Froch, Jermaine Taylor, Mikkel Kessler( who isn't doing anything right now) Andre Direll, Andre Ward, Miranda is still there, Lacy, Bute, Bika and a bunch of others. Its the hottest division going right now but they just need to keep on making these fights happen. Its what the sport needs.

How come odo? I have seen him and he seems like a very good future. Decent pop, chin and athleticism? Still young, time to to grow? No?

Me thinks that Calzaghe retiring couldnt have been better timed. Is he ducking the young guns that he saw coming??? I dont know, but I do know that he is gone and since he moved up to 175 it exploded. Alot of these fighters were calling out Joe and him and his fans simple blew them off.

So, which of these 'young guns' do you think would beat Calzaghe at 168? Yes, he's on the slide but personally, I cannot see any of them beating him.

Bute-Andrade matchup has to be made

I would really like to Ward-Bika personally.

And Froch against Allan Green is another great fight
