Thing is when is the last time that alot of people couldnt see a fighter winning a fight that he won..That would be all the time...Who really thought that Pac could beat Oscar??? Or Donaire over Vic??? what about Hopkins over Pavlik??? We dont know how Joe would match up vs a Bute or Froch, or Green or Dirrell or Ward or Dawson, All we know for fact is that he didnt fight any of them. Could he beat them?? yes but they could have beat him too.

I ve seen some of his fights, too. Maybe I am too harsh on him,but I am not sold on him at all. His very close first encounter with Sanavia which could have gone either way,his very tough fight with a Russian journeyman on Russian territory, and his very lucky point decision over Spaniard Campillo in one his last fights havent really convinced me that he can go very far.Admittingly,Campillo is quite underrated and a very skilled fighter who can hold his own against a lot of far better names at supermiddle.
Admittingly,Sanavia is a tough cookie with lots of experience. However,he looked quite mediocre against that journeyman on Russian soil.
I dont know, landshark, but my gut feeling tells me that he will soon find his match at supermiddle.

Showtime had some rumblings about doing some sort of SMW tournament, look at all the great fights they could potentially do.

I think we'll see Bute-Andrade in October, Froch-Ward in November or so with the winners meeting up in a big unification clash later on. Hopefully by then Kessler will have done something worth noticing and Green and Dirrell will have continued to make strides.

It's a big division, but its American boxing coverage of it is lacking, which is a shame. SMW has always been more of a Euro division but really it's beginning to branch out and become international.

Yeah, it is an insanely deep division.

You forgot Karoly Balzay. Very good boxer.

Why should that happen in June 2009? Can you say why or it is just a belief in some miracle?

I really see no reason why Kessler should not be in the same situation he is in now, in 2011 or 2012. No reason whatsoever.

It also helps the credibility over here that there's top prospects and contenders from the US, and there's a good chance 2 of our champs will moving there over the next couple of years, as well. As people get interested in that, they'll see that there's a number of guys already in that division that can really fight. Traditionally, that didn't happen as a number of US fighters used it as not much more than a stopgap between middle and light heavyweight.

Traditionally the middle weight of grown adult males in boxing shape has been 160. With higher people and better nutrition this ideal has gone up and is now around 168.

This explains why there are such a ridiculous competition in this division today.

Cloud's a LHW and will end up fighting Dawson sooner or later should Chad not decide to move down.

yeah jacobs has been fighting over 160 to be factual. he's been at 161 and 162 i belive in his last 2 fights. he's on his way up. Pw moving up, you still have Jean paul mendy floating around out there. if RJJ can beat Lacy by KO he can be thrown into that mix and provide a name win for an up and comer. and who knows with Dawson moving down maybe Beibut Shomunov Moves dow to 168 as he seems like a fighter who likes to challenge himself.

Definitely the hottest and best division in boxing right now. As the Showtime announcer stated in his broadcast in the JT/Froch fight, the stars align every few years to make one division the hottest in the sport. It's the time for the SMW division.
