I know I'll take some heavy criticism for this but I personally think 168 is the deepest, most talented division in boxing right now. It doesn't have the stars like 135 and 147 but its got the best OVERALL talent IMO and the potential to be even better in the next few years.

While it doesn't have any top ten P4P talent at the moment (although Calzaghe has chosen to keep his title for the time being) SMW is jam packed with potential super stars and great match ups. I know 135 and 147 are hot right now but I think there are only a handful of guys that make those divisions so good.
    • 135: Pacquiao, J. Diaz, Cambell, JMM at the top than Katsidis and D. Diaz and Guzman (if he'll ever make weight again)
    • 147: Margarito, Williams (will he ever fight again at 147?), Cotto, Mosely, Clottey and Berto are the elite folllowed by guys like Cintron, Collazo, Judah and Estrada.
    Now lets look at 168
    • Calzaghe (if he defends title after Jones fight), Kessler, Froch, Bute, Taylor, Green, Bika, Codrington, Dirrell, Miranda, Pascal, Andrade, Zuniga, Inkin, Lacy....than you have Pavlik and Abraham who are big middleweights that can move up at anytime. Again, 168 might not have the super stars but I think it has more overall talent than any other division and will only get better over the next couple years when Pavlik and Abraham move up.

I don't think 168 is the deepest but it IS underrated. If both Pavlik and Abraham move up to 168, the division is probably the best in boxing.

Gets overlooked by a lot due to a lack of quality Americans in it. But that could soon change. A lot of them just need to start making fights with each other and not fight 15-25 ranked opponents.

An excellent division, but certainly not the deepest.

Exactly...thats why its not getting the exposure because all the top guys seem to duck each other. But that can't last forever...

    Yep, its right up there

Top tier - Kessler, Calzaghe (if he returns)
Second tier - Bute, Taylor, Froch
Competitive guys - Andrade, Zuniga, Lacy, Pascal, Inkin, Bika
Prospects - Ward, Dirrell, Murat (vaguely)
    Chin checkers - Miranda, Berrio
    Potentially - Pavlik, Abraham

Any number of good fights could be made.

Nah, it has potential of being a good one though if Froch, and Bute step up to the plate.

Calzaghe doesnt even box there anymore.

Williams isn't stopping through...he's bypassing 154 and jumping right to 160.

The big boys have been avoiding themselves and that may cause the underrating but the good fights are coming

    122. Vasquez & Marquez are top 10 P4P, and who can forget their trilogy. Steve Molitor is a very slick boxer, he's world class. Juan Manuel Lopez is one of the hottest prospects, if not the hottest, around. He could be great. Celestino Caballero is a freak of nature and difficult to beat. Abner Mares is a great prospect aswell - not sure whether he campaigns at 122 or 118 though.

I reall hope Molitor lands one of the other top dogs soon. Classy boxer who, imo, could prove to be the man at 122.

168 is one of my favorite decisions after the lightweight division.. It does have a lot of talent and a big fight is coming up between Bute & Andrade.. 135 is just making a lot of noise right now and I would like to see Kessler fight another elite fighter soon as well as Taylor.. I don't think it's as underrated as people think, but their is a lot of talent in the division..
