Whether the injuries are legit or not, or the :|ing about venues, it sure makes old time fighters look that much more like they were made of steel.

I dunno if I stand alone on this one, but the breed of fighters today just aren't made of what fighters used to be made of. I still respect our boxers, but I respect the old timers that much more, when I see how the super six guys for instance, fight the best, and have a hard time maintaining. It's like they can't handle fighting the best. And the politics (venues etc)don't help, but that too shows how far boxers mentalities have fallen too...

Boxing just doesn't have the same amount hardened mentality, fight anyone, anywhere, any glove, any judge, any ref, etc fighters it used to.

All this "I'm not fighting at home?!?!:| That's not fair I'm not signing!" is just driving me nuts.

Whatever, I'm just ranting, I just wish boxing was the all american sport again...

I feel your frustration. All athletes and all sports have changed with the times. It's all of society; money, marketing, image, politics....which boxing is just a small part of. I have similar strong feelings about music. Still, any boxer has my respect just to be able to step in there.

Ward refused to fight in the tournament unless he got all his fights in his home town! Dirrell faked an injury to get his last fight in Detroit. Now they are both fighting over who gets fight in their home turf! I think fight will be canceled.

This Tourney seemed like the greatest idea at the time.

I'm not sure it's a new thing. The difference may be that we are now informed of everything being discussed. In the old days, we were informed when the deal was done.

I guess the 6 is to at least get the top 5 of each category.

top 4 of the division doesn't sound to shabby either. I mean if we did that for 140 lb we'd get bradley, alexander, khan and maidana, pretty good tbh.

Doesn't soung too bad. Two less fighters to ***** and complain about contracts.

I still like the idea of the best 6, but damn, I just didn't think this much bs would come from it.

168 is a division in decline. Kessler is half blind. Froch is 33 years old. Abraham disgraced himself. Green is -- well -- Allan Green. Taylor is shot and retired. Bute only fights at the Belle Center.

With the exception of Ward and Dirrel all the top guys are 30 years of age or older. Ward and Dirrell won't fight because it might ruin their marriage.

140 and 160 are loaded with hot young talent. Those are the divisions to watch next year.
